We sit down with Sean Dickson (Aka Hifi Sean) to quiz him about music, travel and some things in between.

An introduction, please … who are you, where are you, and what pays the bills?

I am Hifi Sean, songwriter, producer and all round good sport ….oh yeah and a DJ.

I recently released 2 album in last 6 months which is pretty good going Ft. & Ft. Excursions are projects were I worked with artists I admire and respect in my record collection like Bootsy Collins , Yoko Ono , Paris Grey (Inner City) , Fred Schneider (B-52’s) and many more – check it out it is a good ride into the World of sound and melody. Ft is more night time and Ft. Excursions is more daytime around a pool which this mix was inspired by.

Where was the mix recorded, and what is the inspiration behind it?

It was recorded in London and the sun was shining and that was the inspiration watching the sun set across the hazy city from my balcony as I live up high in the sky. A swimming pool was sadly not at hand but I DJ regular at one in the city and these are the kind of records I play.

Strictly vinyl? Strictly digital? Couldn’t care less?

My car is bigger than yours, please its music! One day it will be telepathic messages sent on a 3000G network to your thoughts .

‘Balearic’, seems to be a somewhat overused term these days, but if you had to – and we are asking you to – describe the essence of ‘Balearic’ in one record?

Hifi Sean Ft. Jean Honeymoon – Monday Morning Sunshine

A record which says either you’ve been up all weekend and experiencing the best sun of the week or you just got out of bed pulled the curtains and just had the best start to your week, you choose.

A Monday morning sunshine is the best sun you can have.

Favourite place you’ve travelled to? And why?

I am quite a big fan of the islands in Thailand , nothing like lying on a hammock between palm trees drinking ice cold cocktails .

Sunset or Sunrise? And the best place to experience it?

My balcony and both are as amazing as the other

The most you’ve ever spent on one record that you’re willing to tell us? Or the best bargain bin finds you’ve digged out over the years, which you’re happy to brag about?

Oh I spent £50 once on a John’s Children 7” which was Marc Bolan from T-Rex first band (teenage obsession), best dig was Joan Collins make up tips album.

Favourite DJ you’ve heard play out over the years?

Still to hear that.

Anything else we should know about you or what you are up to …
