RAW MATERIALS
We import cotton yarns from numerous Italian mills into our knitwear factory in Turkey. All yarns come with OEKO-TEX certification and, if minimum order quantities allow, they are also Organic or BCI accredited.
WAREHOUSE & DISPATCH
The UK is our base, more specifically the seaside town of Brighton. We have an office and warehouse space just outside of town where we deal with all orders and deliveries.
As a proudly independent brand, our UK office consists of a small but efficient team. There is the two brothers Mark & Chris (pictured above), fellow director Anthony, social media/content guru Charlie, digital marketing whizz Stuart, and customer service head honcho, Gwil. And for the most part, it’s fair to say we all really enjoy what we do.
To read more about our commitment to recycled plastics, carbon footprint, and any other concerns you may have about how we deal with processing deliveries and orders, scroll down on the main Sustainability page where you will find more detailed information.
RAW MATERIALS
We import cotton yarns from numerous Portuguese mills into our knitwear factory in Turkey. All yarns come with OEKO-TEX certification and, if minimum order quantities allow, they are also Organic or BCI accredited.
RAW MATERIALS / GARMENT PRODUCTION
Turkey is our main port of call for our knitwear production, where we work with a family run enterprise headed up by Deniz. Started by her mother in the 1970’s in Istanbul, this is a second generation of women who run the factory. A friendly and international team now exports globally and they are proud of their quality, and of their obedience to BSCI standards. Conditions of employment go beyond the legal minimums and all staff enjoy freshly cooked meals each day as well as pension and holiday entitlements – this is reflected in the average 10 year tenure. All yarns come with OEKO-TEX certification and, if minimum order quantities allow, they are also Organic or BCI accredited, and come from either Turkey, Italy or Portugal.
RAW MATERIALS / GARMENT PRODUCTION
When it comes to woven fabrics, India is our go-to. We work with a variety of mills that are all based mainly within the south of the country, in and around Chennai. To help streamline and keep an eye on the process we work with a well-respected fabric agent, who deals with quality control and checks.
All mills are working to the required governmental standards, and we only source fabrics that adhere to the BCI principles (see “Materials”). Where Government standards are not available we require internationally accepted standards to be applied.
RAW MATERIALS / GARMENT PRODUCTION
We have very close ties to Sri Lanka due to co-founder Mark having lived in the country for 8 years. All factories that are used, we know on a personal level and have worked with them in one guise or another for 10+ years or so.
In addition, we directly employ a small team of workers at our office in Colombo; Ihsan, Pathmisri and Roshan. They are responsible for our bespoke shirt service, sampling, and factory/mill quality control visits.
All the factories and mills we use have the necessary accreditations (SEDEX and Sri Lanka Apparel Association) to export garments/manufacture fabrics, and all abide by the SL governments strict exportation and employment guidelines.
Sri Lanka is our main source of production, where we manufacture shirts, t-shirts, outerwear, socks and headwear. In addition, we source our jersey fabrics from the leading knitting mill in South East Asia.
As a point of interest, the shirt factory we use has been in business for over 50 years and is proud to be the oldest shirt factory in Sri Lanka. Over the years they have manufactured for some of the biggest global brands, and finding a more knowledgeable factory on the subject of shirt making is a tough task..
